History
Magnolia CMS was developed by two software entrepreneurs by the names of Boris Kraft and Pascal Mangold who had an interest in creating a content management system. Magnolia began in 1997 in Basel, Switzerland.
Requirements
Software requirements for Magnolia CMS is a requirement of a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) to run. On windows you will additionally need Java SE Development Kit (JDK). Magnolia also has requirements for hardware recommending CPU: 4vCPU, 12 GB of memory for author instance and 8GB for public instances, and storage of about 30 GB but will vary depending on content.
Hosted/Self-Hosted
Magnolia has the option to be self-hosted by also has an option that offers a cloud solution for secure cloud environment, development tools, and services.
Cost
Magnolia is an open source CMS that is free but offers the self-hosted DXP option for $3,000 per month and then custom pricing on the cloud DXP.
